Jemima, Baroness von Tautphoeus

BARONESS VON (1807-1893), British novelist, was born at Seaview, Co. Donegal, on the 23rd of October 1807, her maiden name being Montgomery. In 1838 she married the Baron von Tautphoeus of Marquartstein (1805-1885), chamberlain to the king of Bavaria, and in Bavaria she passed most of the rest of her life. She was the author of several novels, written in English, describing South German life, manners and history. The Initials (1850), Quits (18J7), and At Odds (1863) are the best known of these. She died on the 12th of November 1893.
