a town and climatic health resort of Germany, in the grand duchy of Baden, situated amid densely wooded hills, on the left bank of the Neckar, 6 m. E. from Heidelberg by the railway to Wurzburg and at the junction of a line to Jagstfeld. Pop. (1905) 2200. It has an important trade in wine. Neckargemund, one of the favourite tourist resorts in the Neckar valley, was founded in the 10th century and became a free town in 1286. In 1395 it passed to the elector palatine and, together with the surrounding district, was apportioned to Baden in 1814.
