a Lutheran theologian of Germany, was born in 1808 at Kbnigstein in Bavaria. He studied at Erlangen and Halle, and died April 21, 1879, as pastor at Mistelbach, near Bayreuth. Blen. dinger took a lively interest in the history of the people of Israel, because he believed that the completion: of the kingdom of God on earth must be preceded by the conversion of the old-covenant people. After the year 1855 he published a number of pamphlets, with special reference to the points at issue between Judaismand Christianity; and, though his efforts were praised. by the one and derided by the other, yet he lived,, moved, and died in what he thought to be the object of his life.
