a Scotch clergyman, son of the Reverend James Foote, minister of Fettercairn, graduated from Marischal College and the University, Aberdeen, March 31, 1798; was licensed to preach July 25, 1804; presented by king George III to the living at Logie, and ordained December 21, 1809; promoted to the third charge at Aberdeen in November 1824, and admitted. June 23, 1825; joined the Free Secession May 24, 1843, and died June 25, 1856, aged seventy-four years. He published four single Sermons (Dundee, 1813; Lond. 1819): Lectures on the Gospel by Luke (Glasgow, 1838, 6 vols.): Pastoral Letter to the Congregation of the Free East Church (Aberdeen, 1844): A Treatise on Effectual Calling (Edinb. 1846): A Sermon in the Free Church Pulpit (volume 1).
