In 1864 she joined the "Sisterhood of Good Samaritans," a religious order recognised by the Church of England, and the next year became a nurse in the Cottage Hospital at Walsale, where she devoted herself in the most exemplary manner and with rare skill to the care of the sick, both in body and soul, until, exhausted in strength, she retired in 1876,. and died December 24, 1878. See her Biography, by Margaret Lonsdale (London and Boston, 1880).
