(1 Corinthians 14:2; 1 Corinthians 14:4; 1 Corinthians 14:13-14; 1 Corinthians 14:19; 1 Corinthians 14:27) is a gloss of the A.V.; for the Greek has simply γλῶσσα , a tongue, obviously meaning a different living language from that ordinarily employed by the speaker (γλῶσσα ἑτέρα, Mark 16:17; Acts 2:4).
