a Protestant theologian of Germany, was born January 29, 1736, at Halle. In 1777 he was called as pastor of the Parochial Church to Berlin, where he died, May 23, 1798. He is the author of, De Sapientia Christi in Seligendo ad Apost. Gentt. Munus Paullo Conspicua (Halle, 1756): — Betrachtungen uber Weisheit und Thorheit im gemeinen Leben der Menschen (Berlin, 1786): — Moralische Predigten (ibid. 1798; edited by F. Ph. Wilmsen): — Predigten fur Hausvater und Hausmutter (Leipsic, 1776). He also translated into German S. Clarke's Paraphrase of the Four Evangelists (Berlin, 1763, 3 volumes).
