Austrian theologian; born at Brzesko, Galicia, May 1, 1865; educated at the University and the Bet ha-Midrash of Vienna, and at the Hochschule für die Wissenschaft des Judentums at Berlin. At the age of fifteen he began contributing articles to various Hebrew periodicals, and two years later he published his "Dober Ṭob" (Lemberg, 1882), novellæ and commentaries on obscure Talmudic passages. Of other works from his pen may be mentioned: "Peḳuddat ha-Ẓaddiḳim" (Cracow, 1883), comments on Biblical passages; and"Die Unsterblichkeitslehre (Psychologie, Messianologie und Eschatologie) bei den Jüdischen Philosophen des Mittelalters" (Leipsic, 1895).
