κατείδωλος, κατείδωλον (κατά and εἴδωλον; after the analogy of καταμπελος, καταγομος, κατάχρυσος, καταδενδρος, etc. (see κατά, III. 3, and cf. Herm. ad Vig., p. 638)), full of idols: Acts 17:16. (Not found in secular authors (cf. Winer's Grammar, § 34, 3).)

Vocabulary of the Greek NT
κατείδωλος, found only in Acts 17:16, is regularly formed on the analogy of such words as καταβελής, κατάγελος etc., with the meaning simulacris referia [urbs] (cf. Vigerus de Idiotismis (ed. Hermann) p. 638) : cf. Liv. xlv. 27 Athenas . . habentts . . simulacra deorum hominumque omni genere et materiae et artium insignia .
