כַּד fem. (1 Kings 17:16) plur. כַּדִּים m. (Judges 7:16; 1 Kings 18:34), [“Sanscrit ghada, Slav. Kad”], κάδος, κάδδος, cadus, a bucket, a pail, a vessel both for drawing (see the root כָּדַד No. 2 ), and for carrying water, Genesis 24:14, seq.; Ecclesiastes 12:6 also for keeping meal, 1 Kings 17:12, 14 1 Kings 17:14, 16 1 Kings 17:16 this vessel was one which women were accustomed to carry on their shoulders.
