Historical Background Psalm Seen is one of several psalms that refer to David's flight from King Saul.
Psalms 7:1 (Shiggaion of David, which he sang unto the LORD, concerning the words of Cush the Benjamite.) O LORD my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me:
Psalms 7:1 Comments - Is the Hebrew name “Cush” ( כּוּשׁ ) (H3568) a reference to Kish ( קִישׁ ) (H7027), the father of King Saul? The names are similar in the Hebrew.
Psalms 7:3 O LORD my God, if I have done this; if there be iniquity in my hands;
Psalms 7:3 “if I have done this” - Comments - Some scholars say that this could be a reference to something that King Saul accused him of, as in 1 Samuel 24:9. It may be referring to an accusation to Kish, Saul's father, or an accusation from an unknown person named Cush.
1 Samuel 24:9, “And David said to Saul, Wherefore hearest thou men's words, saying, Behold, David seeketh thy hurt?”
