(hehl' kath-haz zyoo' rihm) Place name meaning, “field of flint stones” or “field of battle.” Site of “play” (2 Samuel 2:14 ) battle between young warriors of Saul and those of David leading to defeat of Ish-bosheth's army (2 Samuel 2:12-17 ). The somewhat obscure Hebrew play on words to name the field near Gibeon has led to numerous translation attempts. REB reads, “Field of Blades.”
