Sandemanian physicist. Born on September 22, 1791 at Newington Butts, England; died on August 25, 1867 at Hampton Court. Preeminent in the science of electricity due to his important experiments and discoveries. The farad, the electromagnetic unit of electric capacity, was named in his honor.
