Esar-haddon (ç'sar-kăd'don), son and successor of Sennacherib, king of Assyria, and one of the greatest of her kings. 2 Kings 19:37. He was the builder of magnificent structures, including three palaces and thirty temples. His reign extended from b.c. 680 to 667, and during it Manasseh, the king of Judah, was taken prisoner by his captains and carried before him at Babylon, and kept a captive for some time. 2 Chronicles 33:11.
