an English prelate of the 15th century, brother of Laurence and William, was probably a native of Cheshire. He was bachelor of laws, and in the sixth year of Edward IV (1466) became bishop of Exeter. He built the bishop's chair in his cathedral, which bishop Godwin says had no equal in England. During the troublesome times of the wars of York and Lancaster, John Booth retired to Horsley, Hampshire, where he died, April 1, 1478, and was buried in St. Clement Danes. London.
