(Hebrews Kor-Ashan´ כּוֹראּעָשָׁן , smoking furnace; Sept. Βαρασάν v. r. Βωρασάν and even Βηρσαβεέ, i.e. Beer-sheba; Vulg. lacus Ashan; so that both appear to have read בּוֹראּ ), one of the places (named between Hormah and Athach) in which "David and his men were wont to haunt," and to his I friends in which he sent presents of the plunder taken from the Amalekites who had robbed Ziklag (1 Samuel 30:30). The towns named in this catalogue are all south of Helron; and Chorashan, therefore, is probably identical with the simple ASHAN (See ASHAN) (q.v.) of Simeon (Joshua 15:42; Joshua 19:7).
