an English divine and eminient poet, was born in London, August 20, 1591, graduated at Cambridge in 1617, and was presented to the living of Dean Prior, Devonshire, in 1629. In 1648 he was deprived by Cromwell, but was reinstated in his living by Charles II, in 1660. He died in October 1674. His works are, Hesperides; or, The Works, both Humane and Divine, of Robert Herrick (1648). To this volume was appended his Noble Numbers (1647). See Chalmers, Biog.
