(צְחֹק, γέλως ), an action usually expressing joy (Genesis 21:6; Psalms 126:2; Ecclesiastes 3:4; Luke 6:21); sometimes mockery (Genesis 18:13; Ecclesiastes 2:2; James 4:9); and occasionally conscious security (Job 5:22). When used concerning God (as in Psalms 2:4; Psalms 59:8; Proverbs 1:26) it signifies that he despises or pays no regard to the person or subject. (See ISAAC).
