a Roman Catholic Orientalist, was born at Meran, March 17, 1801, and died January 10, 1881. at Mariaberg, Tyrol. He published, Echte Akten heiliger Martyrer des Morgenlandes, aus dem Syrischen ubersetzt (Innsbruck, 1836, 2 volumes): Clemens Romanus' zwei Briefe an die Jungfrauen, aus dem Syrischen mit Anmerkungen (Vienna, 1827): Ephraem Syrus' auserwahlte Schriften (Innsbruck, 1830-34, 5 volumes); besides, he contributed largely to the Zeitschrift of the German Oriental Society.
